David Whipple

David C. Whipple, 67, passed away at 3:55 pm, Sunday, November 9, 2014 at St. Anthony’s Hospital.  

He was born in Alton, Illinois on September 6, 1947, the son of the late Wallace and Elsie (Webb) Whipple.

He married Pamela J. Simpson on May 27, 1995 in Lake of the Ozarks, MO.

Dave retired as a Detective for the Alton PD.  He was the President for the Alton Eagles, FOE 254, for 2 years. He helped build the 911 System as the head coordinator for Madison County from 1991-2002. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7804, Alton Wood River Sportsman Club, NENA (National Emergency Number Association), and the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police). Dave enjoyed golf and baseball, but most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by one daughter, Allison (Nash) Poindexter of Dry Ridge, KY; one son, Matthew Whipple of Alton; two brothers, Jack (Virginia) Russo of Springfield, IL, Donald Whipple of Alton; and one sister, Vickie (Danny) Swain of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.

Funeral service will be at 10 am on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.

Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.  

Memorials may be made to 5 A’s Animal Shelter.
