David Preis

David Wayne Preis, 66, passed away on August 28, 2026, surrounded by family at Anderson Hospital.

David was born on July 2, 1960 in Alton, IL to William and Alice (Provence) Preis.

He worked at Preis Construction and Reality. He enjoyed electronics and was a genius when it came to them. He was a ham radio enthusiast and was licensed. He enjoyed the wilderness, rock climbing and hiking. He loved his pets and raising his chickens.

He is survived by his sister, Sandra (Mike) Hornsey of Godfrey; aunts and uncles, Ivan (Carolyn) Preis of Yellville, Arkansas, Vicki (David) Hoxsie of Bolliver, Missouri; cousins, Kevin (Missy) Hoxsie, Wayne (Judy) Hoxsie, Steve Hoxsie, and Suzi (Scott) Ferguson, along with various nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.

David is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.

Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL. Pastor Terry McKinzie will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Madison County Humane Society or the 5A’s Animal Shelter.

Burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL
