David Strasser

David Fischer Strasser, 85, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 surrounded by the ones he loved most.

He was born February 15, 1941 in Alton, the son of the late Rudolph “Rudy” and Frances (Miller) Fischer. He was later raised by Frances (George) Strasser. 

He married Betty “Jane” Klocke on February 17, 1968.  David retired from Olin Brass Corporation.  He was well involved with the Hayner Public Library, when not at the library he spent a great amount of time in Batchtown with Betty’s family.   

Surviving are one daughter, Trisha Cox of Alton, four grandchildren, Madison Cox (Konner Henke) of Staunton, Brennan (Isabell) Cox of Jerseyville, Miranda Garrett and fiancé (Javion Jones) of South Roxana, and Malayna Garrett of Alton, one brother, Jerry (Kathleen) Strasser, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

David was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane, daughter and son in law, Melody and Randy Garrett.   

Graveside services will be Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Upper Alton Cemetery. Deacon Bill Kessler will officiate.
