Desiree A. Dollus was born March 8, 1962, in Belleville, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Margaret, nee Wehrheim, Dollus. Desiree departed this life on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Memorial Hospital East, Shiloh, IL. She was 63 years old.
Desiree was a graduate of Althoff Catholic High school, 1980, and North Texas State University, 1984. She had traveled to places such as Ireland, France, and almost every state in America including Alaska. She enjoyed visiting many of these beautiful sites with her family as child and as an adult, with her mother, sister, Bridget, and nephew, Mitchell.
Desiree also enjoyed the little things in life. Every week, she would indulge in “Friday Fun Night” with her sister Deborah and niece Taylor. On “Friday Fun Night” they would dine at various restaurants, building relationships with the workers who eventually knew them by name. This was something that not only Desiree looked forward to, but her niece Taylor, who talked about it non-stop.
Desiree loved to let her creativity soar through many DIY projects. She created various decorations, an inventive backyard space, and personal and sentimental gifts. She expected her niece Rachel to follow in her footsteps and carry on this creativity.
For many years, she anticipated Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas because she was able to prepare a feast for her guests. From homemade cheesecake to a new drink recipe, Desiree could do it all. Anyone who would attend could see the details and hard work that Desiree put into making every holiday special. For many years of her life, Desiree operated Dollus Bros Shoe Store with her mom and sister, Bridget. Growing up, she loved to help out and play around in the store, then owned by her father and mother.
Desiree was preceded in death by her father; three uncles, Bob Dollus, Tom Dollus, and Jim Wehrheim; grandparents, Lorene and Edward Dollus and Margaret and Erwin Wehrheim; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Allen.
Left to mourn her passing is her mother, Margaret “Peggy” Dollus, nee Wehrheim; her brother, Edward Dollus; two sisters, Deborah (Brian) Perez and Bridget Allen; her two nieces, Taylor and Rachel Perez; and her two nephews, Mitchell Perez and Stuart Allen.
