
Don Michael Padgett, 80, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:31 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Evercare of Edwardsville.
Born August 15, 1945, in Granite City, Illinois, he was the son of the late Leo and Christine (Petrillo) Padgett.
He retired in 2000 from the Granite City School District after over 20 years of dedicated service as a custodian.
The United States Navy veteran proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Granite City American Legion and the Elks Lodge and enjoyed his days of golfing and playing cards. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Missy Padgett of Chesterfield, Indiana; two grandchildren and their spouses, Rebekah and Dillon Simon of Anderson, Indiana and Nicolas and Halie Padgett of Antigo, Wisconsin; two great grandchildren, Lorraine Simon and Benjamin Simon; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dawn Padgett and three great grandchildren, Bennett Simon, James Padgett and Jessie Padgett.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with his cherished family officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
