Dorothy Boren

Dorothy M. Boren, 87, died at 6:23 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Alton Memorial Hospital.  Born December 26, 1932, in Alton, she was the daughter of Willard and Gertrude (Hoekenrader) Mathews.  Mrs. Boren graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing.  She retired as an RN for St. Anthony's Hospital after 20 years of service and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.  On November 26, 1955 she married Herman L. Boren in Alton.  He survives. 

Also surviving is a grandson, Aaron Boren of Godfrey, a sister, Carol Martinez of Carlinville, brother-in-law, James Boren of Nebo, sisters-in-law, Marion Sanders of Godfrey, Delores Boren of Brighton, Sandra Boren of Brighton and Rosa (Bill) Berkel and their son Gary of East Alton.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda M. Boren and Mary E. Boren, three brothers, Richard, Thomas and Ralph Mathews, and a sister, Ruth Jun.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. ' 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton following by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.  Father Steven Janoski will officiate.  Burial will at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey.  CDC guidelines will be observed.  Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or the Beverly Farm Foundation.
