Dr. Rosalie (Horstman) Haines

Dr. Rosalie (Horstman) Haines, 79, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Care Center in Alton.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joseph Haines, equine veterinarian, in 2008 and a sister, Lois Becker.  Survivors include one sister, five brothers, and in-laws:  Sarah Ursprung (Eugene), Justus Horstman (Stella), Stephen Horstman (Diane), Mark Horstman, James Horstman (Ardis), Daniel Horstman (Alison), and a brother-in-law, Carl Becker.  Rosalie graduated from Valparaiso University, Iowa State, and earned a PHD in anthropology from Bryn Mawr College.  She has conducted extensive research in genealogy on “Youngest Son Inheritance Practices” in German farm communities.  A private family memorial service will be at a later date.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.  Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
