Edwin Link

Edwin G. Link, age 73, of Collinsville, IL, born on October 5, 1953, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Ed dedicated 42 years of his life to working at Schnucks, where he made many friends that he also considered to be like family. He had a smile that could brighten any room and a heart full of kindness.

He loved spending time with his grandkids, watching movies, having sleepovers, and playing shark in the pool. He loved ice cream and would never say no to anything chocolate. He loved to travel, especially cruising to unforgettable destinations like Alaska and Japan. He always looked forward to the next adventure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Maria Link (nee Kupczyk), and father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Adella Kreke (nee Grapperhaus).

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Link (nee Kreke); his cherished daughters, Jamie (Scott) Elkins and Michelle (Joe) Klees; his grandchildren, Tommy, Penny, Tyler, Lucy, and Carter; his siblings, Evelyn (Jim) Valentine, Barbara Ann (Alan) Burden, Janet (Mike) Hoard, Helen Sue Bandy, Stephen (Louise) Link, and Marilyn (Tom) Schaefer; his sister-in-law, Diane (Hibbard) Kopp; his beloved goddaughter and niece, Beverly Bandy; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held on November 7, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the KC Club and Event Center in Fairview Heights, IL. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and remember Ed for the love, laughter, and friendship he brought into their lives.
