Elizabeth Nolte

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Nolte, 86, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at her home.

Born June 17, 1932 in Chicago, IL, she was a daughter of Henry Ghilliam and Louise (Lawson) Borst.

She married Vernon John Nolte July 21, 1951 in Bethalto. He preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1995.

Betty worked as a school bus driver for the Bethalto School District for 29 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto.

Surviving are three sons, John (Sharon) Nolte of Bethalto, Eric Nolte of East Alton, and Jason Nolte of Bethalto; a daughter, Martha Roper of Florida; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and her sister, Martha Marie Smith of Franklin, NC.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Nolte; a son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Roper; and a brother-in-law, Buford Smith.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, and will continue Monday, Dec. 10 at Zion Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Willard V. Meyer will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
