Ellen Rhein

Ellen K. Rhein, 68, of Belleville, IL, born June 3, 1957, in Peoria, IL, passed away from this life on July 26, 2025, at LaBella of Edwardsville Care Center, Edwardsville, IL.

Two days after birth, Ellen was adopted by Roberta J. Rhein and Arthur H. Rhein. Ellen was a certified medical assistant and a member of the Service Employees International Union “SEIU” at Touchette Regional Hospital. She was also a member of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

Ellen had been a member of Hope United Church of Christ since her confirmation at age 14.

She was an outstanding flute player at Belleville Township High School East, playing in the Concert band, Marching bands, and the Orchestra. Ellen also played for the Belleville Junior Philharmonic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Bobbie, nee Mentzer, Rhein; and a brother, in infancy, Brad Lee Rhein. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents, Twitchell and Alberta Mentzer and Arthur and Josephine Rhein.

Surviving her are her brother, Eric M. Rhein of Belleville; her nieces and nephews, Sarah (Sara) Rhein, Christopher (Lexi) Rhein, Jonathan Rhein, Mary Rhein (fiancé, Jordan), and Zachary (Brea) Rhein; her grand-niece, Gemma Rhein; and her grand-nephew, Levi Rhein.

Funeral: Private funeral services will be held for Elle’s family and extended family on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

A private family burial will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
