Evelyn Monroe

Evelyn F. Shirley Monroe, 94, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Rosewood Care Center of Alton.

She was born on June 11, 1920 in Jersey County, the daughter of Warren C. and Anna (Orban) Campbell.

She married Wilmer P. "Brownie" Shirley on October 12, 1940.  He died in 1974.

Surviving are a son, Gary James, (Jeanne) Shirley of Dorsey; four grandchildren and their spouses, Deborah and Greg Kopsie, Eric and Tina Shirley, Lisa and Brian Trust, Tina Meisenheimer; 10 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; brother Warren 'Jack' (Jeanette) Campbell; sisters Gladys Kelly and Muriel Scammahorn.

Preceding in death were her parents; husband; grandson, Mark Shirley; and great grandson, Ryan Kopsie.

Visitation will be from 9 am until time of service at 11 am Wednesday at Roxana Church of the Nazarene.  Pastor Earl Gillette will officiate.

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto

Memorials may be made to the Roxana Church of the Nazarene where she had been an active member.

Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
