Evelyn Draper

Evelyn “Judy” Draper, 92, of Bethalto, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at 3:54 pm, under the care of BJC Hospice.

She was born on March 5, 1926, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Stanley and Dorothy (Heavner) Jakulski.  She married Paul V. Draper on September 2, 1946 in Kampsville, IL.

Judy was the head of the payroll department at Alton Mental Health Center for 40 years before retirement.  She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto.  She loved to read, and spending time with her family and friends.  Judy had a genuine spirit and loving heart.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara “Bobbie” (Rex) Petersen of Bethalto; a son-in-law, Jack Sharr of Glencoe, MO; five grandchildren, Marci (Scott) Golike, Andy (Pandora) Cheatham, Ryan (Shannon) Petersen, Katie (Josh) Lambie, and Christopher (Meg) Scharr; nine great-grandchildren, Kody, Lukas, Kendra, Dylan, Noah, Reagan, Piper, Teague, and Avett; and a great-great-grandchild, Averi.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Debra Scharr and Pamela (Dennis) Cheatham; a brother, Stanley Jakulski; a sister, Flo Coffman; and a granddaughter, Lauren Petersen.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, January 14, 2019, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.  Mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto, with Father Tom Liebler officiating.

Per Judy’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
