Francis Cook

Francis Timbrook Cook Jr., 79, of Maryville, IL, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Wed. Dec. 3, 2025 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

He was born Feb. 18, 1946 in Decatur, IL to the late Francis Timbrook and Mildred (Spears) Cook.

On June 13, 1964, he and Janice Elane Springer were married in Holland, TX.  She survives.

Francis was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, retiring after 23 years of service in the military. He most recently retired from Jack Schmidt Ford Lincoln in Collinsville, IL serving as a salesman and parts delivery person. He loved to spend time with his family as well as doing yard work, traveling and fishing. He was a Mason with Gothic Masonic Lodge #852.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children, Lori Gilland of Fairview Heights, IL, Francis Timbrook Cook III of Maryville, and Melody (Christopher) Gilland of Fairview Heights, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, and a son-in-law, Robert Gilland.

Burial with military honors will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
