Francis Koniak

Francis L. Koniak, Sr 94, of Gillespie, IL, died at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 11:51 am.

He was born April 7, 1931, in Benld, IL to Paul P. Koniak & Mary Belle Koniak. He married Alice E. (Eller) Koniak. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2020.

He was retired after having been a machine repairman for Owens Illinois Glass. He was a veteran of the US Air Force after having served during Korea. Francis enjoyed reading.

He is survived by his children, Yvonne (John) Koniak-Cagle of Eolia, MO, Thomas L. (Terry) Koniak of Gillespie, IL, Dianne (Koniak) Baum of Gillespie, IL, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, siblings, Bill (Pat) Koniak of Godfrey, IL, Rosemarie Salovich of Gillespie, IL, sisters in laws, Pat Koniak of Sawyerville, IL, Judy Koniak of Gillespie, IL and several nieces and nephews.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, son, Francis L. Koniak, Jr, siblings, James, Robert, Paul.

Family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
