JERSEYVILLE - Gary Lynn Miller Sr., 60, died at 9:21 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2018 at his home in Jerseyville.

He was born on April 6, 1957 in Jerseyville to Geroge Eugene “Gene” Miller and Betty Jean (Perdun).

Gary’s early childhood years were spent in Hardin before his family relocated to Marshall, IN, ultimately returning to Jerseyville where he attended Jersey Community High School and remained to raise his own family.

He married the former Elaine Meyer on December 20, 1975 in Jerseyville and throughout their 42 years of marriage they were blessed with the joys of raising their three children and the grandchildren that followed.

Gary was a true family man and worked tirelessly to provide the best possible life for his wife and children. He worked as a Truck Driver for various trucking companies throughout the area, ultimately retiring from Linde Trucking in Hardford this past year after 24 years of honest and dedicated service.

He was a humble man who took great pride in the simple things in life, a good meal of barbeque or fish and the company of his family brought him the greatest sense of peace and happiness. He had a knack for being able to brighten even the darkest of days with his infectious smile and witty sense of humor, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his wife, Elaine Miller; his mother, Betty Karrick; three children, Shannon Miller, Gary L. “Lynnie” Miller Jr. and Ashley June Miller, all of Jerseyville; three grandchildren, Haley Zimmerman, Lucas Scoggins and Trevor Miller; two sisters and brothers in-law, Patty Ann and Paul Roberts  of Lake Ozark, MO and Vicki and Richard Gibson of Henderson, KY; 4 brothers and a sister in-law, Michael “Mickey” Miller of Riverview, FL; Terry “Moose” Miller of Jerseyville; William “Billy” Gresham of Jerseyville and Stan and Liz Karrick of Jerseyville; a brother in-law, Robert Kessinger of Brighton; Blake Lamar, who was like a son to Gary, of Grafton; and dear friends, Jim Pfeiffer and Janet Grady of Jerseyville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Miller; a sister, Debra (Gresham) Kessinger; a nephew, Jonathon Miller as well as his father and mother in-law, Fred and Violet Meyer.

Private services were held on Thursday, March 29 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
