
George “Roger” Booth, 66, of Jerseyville passed from this life Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his home.
Roger was born September 13, 1949 in Carrollton, IL and was raised on a small farm there. He graduated from Carrollton High School and later moved to Jerseyville. He attended Gospel Assembly Church in Jerseyville where he met his wife of 41 years, Connie. Roger was a loving, devoted, fun-loving husband and father. He loved his church and lived his life with faith in and devotion to God.
Roger had a nearly 38 year career with AgriSolutions/Family Farms providing expertise in accounting, tax, and financial consulting/training, and software development. He served as Corporate Controller for FamilyFarms Group and all of its subsidiaries the past several years. Throughout his career he built many enduring relationships with ag producers and business associates.
In his free-time, Roger enjoyed traveling, photography, and gardening. He was a former member of Missouri Botanical Gardens where he won awards for violets he raised. He was an avid reader, often found in the nearest rocking chair with a book in hand. He was also a talented wood turner and from this hobby created a small business, “Memorable Pens”, selling hand-turned pens and pencils. He was a trustee at his church and a member of Gideons International.
He is survived by his wife, Connie M. Booth of Jerseyville; “#1” daughter, Jessica M. and Matthew C. Sumner of Kankakee; “#1” son, David A. Booth of Jerseyville; sister, Margaret F. and Steve Day of Carrollton as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl B. and Opal F. Booth of Carrollton.
Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm Monday, July 4, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10am July 5, 2016. Both will be held at Jerseyville Gospel Assembly Church.
Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gospel Assembly Church.
