George Taylor

George “Bill” Taylor Jr., 80, of Golden Eagle, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 4, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Bill was the beloved son of George Taylor Sr. and Marian Taylor. He graduated from Brussels High School and went on to pursue a career as a professional wrestler, a profession he embraced with passion and pride for many years.

Known for his generous spirit and quick sense of humor, Bill had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. He brought warmth and laughter to everyday moments, whether sharing a story, offering a helping hand, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends. His openhearted nature and genuine kindness touched countless lives.

Brussels always held a special place in Bill’s heart. Whenever he traveled through the town, he delighted in pointing out homes and sharing stories about the people who lived there. He spoke often of the many friendships he made in Brussels, and those lifelong connections remained among his most treasured memories.

Bill is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Kathleen Gulick and Don Gulick, Charles and Angel Williams, Thomas and Kim Hamilton, Angela Hamilton, David Hamilton, Dustin Pohlman, Donald Gulick II, John Williams, Codie Williams, Scarlet Hamilton, Matilda Hamilton, Taylor Johnson, Parker Trigg, Aiden Hamilton, Dexter Gulick, Xavier Gulick, Diana Bono, John Williams III, Layloni Williams, and Athena Williams, as well as many other cherished family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Taylor Sr. and Marian Taylor; his sisters, Marian Williams and Tanya Burger; and his brother, John Taylor.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Gress, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels, IL.

Burial will follow at St. Matthew’s Cemetery in Brussels.
