Gerald Hise

Gerald Dee Hise, 87, died at 3:06 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home in Alton, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 15, 1929 in Ridgeway, IL, he was the son of Earl Dee and Arizona (Fulks) Hise. Mr. Hise served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Abundant Life Community Church in Alton, formerly Edward Street Assembly of God, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, bus driver, Royal Ranger Leader and also on the visitation team. He retired as a mold maker/inspector for Owens Illinois in Alton after 45 years of service. On December 6, 1956 he married the former A. Esther Theisen in Alton. She survives. Also surviving are two two sons, Dee Alan Hise (Lorrie) of Crestwood, MO, and Gregory Hise of Alton, two daughters, Ashley Flaherty (Kelly) of Alton, and Heather Hale of Alton, eight grandchildren, Andrew Flaherty (Kirsten), Jonathan Flaherty, Rachel Flaherty, Lydia Flaherty, Danelle Hale, Samuel Hale, Isaac Hise, and Manny Hise, one great grandchild, Reagan Flaherty, and a sister, Clara “Oddie” Taynor of Bethalto as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Abundant Life Community Church in Alton. Reverend Roy Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors. Memorials may be made to Holt International Adoption or the Abundant Life Community Church.
