
Glen A. “Pete” Borman Jr., 79, died at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 with his family by his side. Born February 24, 1938 in Alton, he was the son of Glenn Borman Sr. and Eleanor (Hartmann) Borman. Pete graduated from St. Mary’s grade school, Marquette Catholic High School and St. Louis University. He immediately went to work at McDonnell Aircraft as a liaison engineer, continuing as it became McDonnell-Douglas and then Boeing. He retired October 23, 2015 after 54 years, most spent on the design and production of the F-15 fighter. He had several hobbies including, Santa’s workshop foreman, golf, hunting and woodworking. He enjoyed requests from family to design and produce challenging pieces of furniture. He belonged to the Owl’s Club where he presided as president for 20 years and the Sportsman’s Club and the Eagle’s Club. On May 7, 1960 he married the former Jane Kaveler. She survives. Also surviving are children, Andrew “Big Bird” Borman of Ridgecrest, CA, Tom “Lurch” (Heather) Of Alton, Tim “Moon Dog” of St. Louis, MO, and Scott “Tweety” (Angela) Borman of Godfrey, grandchildren, Clayton, Jessica, Isabel, Lily, Clara, Sophie and Spencer, sisters; Carol (Guy) Nasello of Godfrey and Sue Nagy (Steve Leahy) of Alton, a brother-in-law, Don McCollam of Fountain Valley, CA as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by infants, Paula Jean and Tiny Tim, granddaughter, Emily and a sister, Patricia McCollam. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Father John Paul Klein, OMV will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
