Harvey Henry Ramsey, 86, passed away 5:15 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Integrity Health Care of Wood River.

Born on August 4, 1929 in Charleston, he was the son of Abe and Nellie (Wright) Ramsey.

A Korean War army veteran, he worked as a car checker for Laclede Steel  for 33 years before retiring in 2001.

He married Viola Faye Gibbs on March 29, 1953 in Corinth, Miss.  She survives.

Surviving also are a son, Randy (P.J.) Ramsey; grandson, Ryan Ramsey (Danielle Combs); great grandson, Carter Lee Ramsey; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Orville and Orlie Trader, Abe Ramsey, Jr.; and three sisters, Mabel Leitch, Pearl Satterfield and Elizabeth Ramsey.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. 

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to the Alton 5 A's Animal Shelter.
