Ida Nuernberger

Ida Mae Nuernberger, age 85, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Friday September 25th, 2026, at San Gabriel Memory Care in Godfrey, Illinois.

Ida was born June 26th, 1941, in Marion, Illinois, the daughter of Ervin & Caroline (Dahmer) Eigenrauch. Ida was a nurse starting in 1962 at Deaconess Hospital, Anna Henry Nursing Home, Hitz Memorial Home where she eventually served as Director of Nursing, and then Hospice. She retired in 2012 after five decades in the nursing field.

Ida married Robert “Bob” Irvin Nuernberger on June 16, 1962, in Marion, Illinois. Bob preceded Ida in death on May 23, 2019.

Ida is survived by her four sons, Paul & wife Sarah, of Troy, Illinois, Phillip & wife Tammie, of Vincennes, Indiana, Patrick & wife Gena, of Bethalto, Illinois, Perry & wife Tonia, of Alton, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Ida was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lou Wiggins, and brother-in-law William “Bill” Wiggins.

Ida was a member of Zonta International, Business & Professional Women’s Club, Sweet Adelines, served as a Den Leader in the Cub Scouts, sang in multiple church choirs over seven decades, and enjoyed playing cards (especially uno & bunko).

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 1st, 2026, at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 1433 W Delmar Avenue in Godfrey, Illinois. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm also at the church with Rev. Adrian Das officiating. A meal will follow the service. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville with a graveside service starting at 3:00 pm that day.
