Irene Bailey

Irene Permelia Bailey, 82, died at 3:15 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at her son’s home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born March 14, 1929 in Alton the daughter of the late Emil and Leila (Phillips) Baehler.  She retired after 20 years of service from Alton Memorial Hospital were she worked in the dietary department. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Alton.  Surviving are one son; Mike Bailey and his wife Marchia of Godfrey, three sisters; Debbie Haggerty and her husband Mark of Godfrey, Michelle McGiffen of Ocala, FL and Catherine Diddle and her husband Tom of Rector, AK, ten grandchildren; Travis Bailey, Lois Anderson, Adam Tucker, Jennifer McGiffen, Natalie McGiffen, Mark Haggerty, Mandy Rife, Melissa Haggerty, Maggie Haggerty and Nicole Diddle, and one sister-in-law; Edna Baehler of Melbourne, FL. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Mallory Haggerty and by two brothers; Charles and James Baehler.  Private graveside services will be at Alton Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice.
