
Jackie Dean Hyman, 88, passed away at 2:28 pm, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at his home with family by his side.
He was born on November 4, 1937, in Wood River, the son of William and Cecil (Fisher) Hyman.
Jack served in the United States Army from 1956-1958, and would often tell stories of being stationed in Italy. He worked at the U.S. Reduction Aluminum Plant until it closed and then went to work at Olin Corporation as a forklift driver.
He married Shirley Briggs on July 11, 1958 in Elsah. He saw her sweeping the porch and told his friend he was going to marry her.
Jack is survived by his children, Bill (Ronda) Bean, Linda Kudelka, Debbie (Billy) Yates, Lisa (Mark) Johns, Mike (Joyce) Hyman, and Jane Hyman; daughters-in-law, Leslie Bean and Tammy Hyman; brother, Donnie Hyman; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and whoever else would like to claim this family.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Tina Hyman and Carol Alesandrani; three sons, Eddie Bean, Ernie Hyman, and Tommy Hyman; sons-in-law, Rick Taviner, Gary Kudelka and Ronnie Alesandrani; a great-grandson, Kristian Madison; brothers, Clifford Hyman, James Hyman, Albert Hyman; and sisters, Charlotte Gleason, Irene Smith, Carol Jean Maggart.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 4 to 8 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 10 am, Pastor Bill Yates will officiate.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
