
James Arsenius Albrecht, 91, of Belleville, IL, born January 4, 1934, in Mascoutah, IL, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.
Mr. Albrecht worked as a typesetter at Record Printing Company and retired after 35 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Jim was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, where he volunteered for many years. At church, he was a member of the Wednesday Maintenance Crew, served as an usher, counted money, and was a member of the St. Mary’s softball team, among many other things.
Jim played many years of baseball with the Mon-Clair League. He was the 1963 batting champion, an eight-time all-star, and was inducted into their hall of fame. He loved watching his kids and grandchildren play many baseball games and other sporting events. He was extremely handy and could fix anything and was a kind man who never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Judith Ann Albrecht, nee Moorleghen, whom he married on September 6, 1962, and who died on May 7, 2025; his parents, Irvin and Bertha, nee Mueth, Albrecht; three brothers, Henry, Allan, and Irvin (Betty) Albrecht; and a sister, Sr. Eric “Helen” Albrecht, ASC.
He is survived by two sons, Tim (Kris) Albrecht and Jeff (Rose) Albrecht; two daughters, Chris (Kelly) Coats and Kathy (Kevin) Schmidt; nine grandchildren, Taylor (Collin) Mingo, Karlee (Taylor) Schmitt, Scarlet and Athena Albrecht, Jed and Ellie Coats, and Emma, Ava, and Gus Schmidt; a great-grandson, Rhett James Schmitt, and another great-grandchild expected in March; four sisters-in-law, Eileen Albrecht, Jean Moorleghen, Mary Kay (Allan) Richter, and Pat (Gary) Spears; a brother-in-law, Mike Moorleghen; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.
Burial will be at Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
