James Delos Little Sr., 90, died at 7:49 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at his residence after a period of declining heath.He was born in Roodhouse on July 12, 1925, and was the son of George T. & Eva (Lawson) Little.James was raised in Roodhouse, and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.After his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to the area, and soon married the former Opal Kirchner in November of 1947 in Roodhouse. Together they began their life together in Greene County, and moved to the East Alton area to be closer to his employment at Laclede Steel Company in Alton. They soon moved to the rural area of Fieldon in 1963, where they enjoyed raising their two sons in a country environment, gardening and birdwatching, so much to the extent, that James named his farm "Bird Land Acres". James and Opal were blessed with 63 years together before her death on July 13, 2011.Surviving are his two sons & a daughter in law, James and Kathy Little Jr. of Collinsville and George Little of Fieldon; four grandchildren & their spouses, Shaun & Jessica Little of Medora, Luke & Danielle Little of White Hall, Matthew Little and Daniel Little both of Collinsville; five great grandchildren, Cameron, Ginnie, Jillian, Brantley and Jameson; two brothers, Eugene Little and Theodore Little both of Roodhouse; two sisters, Leona McFeeters of Roodhouse and Mary Ann Monroe of Buchanan, Mi.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Virginia "Ginnie" Little; and a brother, George R. Little.Family and friends are invited to graveside service to honor his life at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Jones Cemetery in rural White Hall. The Tri County Honor Guard will perform military graveside rites in recognition of his service to his country.Crawforfd Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.
