James Garris

James David Garris, 47, of Alton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

He was born on March 2, 1978, in Alton, the son of the late Freddie Sr. and Linda (Shuler) Garris.

Jim was a painter by trade, and enjoyed bowling, throwing darts, playing cards, and spending time with his family.

He married Vanessa Jones on August 13, 1999. Together they have four daughters, Jordan Garris of Alton, Ashton Garris of Alton, Morgan (Hunter) Schultz of Dixon, and Emme (Josh) Murphy of East Alton; three grandchildren, Braxton, Weston, and Jaydin; five siblings, Fred (Sarah) Garris, Sharon (Brian) Wermke, Tammy Garris, Donny Garris, Kathy (Zach) Osborne; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother John Thomas Garris.

Visitation will be held from 4pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2025, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
