James Waltz

James Ronald “Ron” Waltz entered into rest on January 27, 2019, at his home surrounded by loved ones, after a year long battle with cancer.

Ron was born December 2, 1947, in Alton, IL, the son of James “Jim” G. Waltz and Jeanette (Downey) Waltz.

He married Nancy I. McGough on September 19, 1975.  She survives.

Ron served in the US Army Reserves from 1968 to 1974.  He was a project manager in the crane industry, for Bollmeier Inc. and Budrovich Inc. for over 30 years, retiring in 2017. 

His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, sons and their families.  He enjoyed golfing, beach vacations and all kinds of sporting events.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses; Ryan and Jessica Waltz of Jerseyville, Corey and Penny Waltz of Alton and Jacob Waltz of Missouri; grandchildren, Zeke, Gunnar, Bodey, Lily, Isabelle, Ezra, Braden and Avery; a sister and brother-in-law, David and Gwen Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Kellye Harkey; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Mona Waltz; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and a niece.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019, from 4 pm until time of service at 6 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
