James W. Moss, 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Alton Memorial Hospital.He was born June 24, 1935, in Alton, the son of Ora and Cecille Moss. James worked for Glass Works, in Alton, for over 20 years, prior to his retirement in 1995. For several years, James was a deacon at Meadowbrook 1^st Southern Baptist Church.He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Elisa and Patrick Pyle of Bethalto, Eric and Angela Moss of Windfield, Missouri, Joseph Moss of Moro; and three grandchildren, Travis and Dylan Pyle, and Samantha Moss.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary (Emery) Parker.Burial will take place in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.Cremation rites have been accorded.Memorials may be made to The Wounded Warriors Foundation.Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is handling arrangements.An online condolence and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com .
