Jeffrey "Jeff" Franklin Romano, 56, of Alton passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

He was born in Alton, IL, on October 7, 1968, the son of Franklin and Barbara (Buckner) Romano. Jeff married Cheryl Patterson on March 8, 2024, and she survives.

Jeff is a 1986 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School in Alton. After a few different jobs, he finally secured a job at Ameren Illinois, working there for 36 years. His last job title was Substation Electrical Mechanic Crew Leader. One of Jeff's passions was working and tinkering with old cars and going to car shows. His favorite place to go twice a week was his friend Hank (Terri) Hart's garage with the guys. Another past time of his was to remodel his home with his wife, Cheryl. He was very proud of the progress they had made. And make no mistake, he loved his dog, Maggie! Most of all, he cherished his time with his family and friends. Most recently teaching his grandchildren his favorite trades.

Along with his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by his parents, Frank and Barb of Bethalto; sister, Julie (Jeff Sedlacek) Romano of Edwardsville, and twin brother, Gregory (Kellie) Romano of Bethalto; his children, Ethan Romano and Emily Romano of Indianapolis, IN; step-children, David (Tricia) Rauschkolb and their children, Hayden, Piper, and Ryder, and Adam (Rebecca) Rauschkolb; nieces and nephews, Zach (Alana) Romano, Katie Milford, and Lily Romano; as well as many close friends and family member that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and a niece, Jamie "Nikki" Short.

The family will host a celebration of life will on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm, at the Bethalto American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to 5A's.

The family has entrusted Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home with cremation rites.
