Jerome F. Almond, age 98, of Highland, IL, died Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center in Greenville, IL.
He was born on Monday, January 3, 1927, in Tampa, FL, the son of Joseph and Ruby (nee Faust) Almond.
After high school and college, he served in the U.S. Navy with duty in the Atlantic Ocean. His Civil Engineering background sent him to work all over the United States, Norfolk, Virginia, Alaska, Montana, California, and Chicago, Illinois, as well as in St. Louis on the Arch.
The major portion of life was spent working for Sverdrup & Parcel and St. Louis Metropolitan Sewer District. A very active person, Jerome served as a Boy Scout Leader and using his building skills as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. For over 20 years he led the 7 a.m. Rosary at St. Paul Catholic Church.
He thoroughly enjoyed working in his garden and practicing horticulture. He also enjoyed wood working. (Needless to say, he had many, many tools.) Jerome loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, and as a "second career," he followed the Stock Market.
