John Edward LaBoube, 88, passed away at 5:59 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.  Born Nov. 22, 1922 in Berger, Mo., he was the son of John H. and Mary (Meyer) LaBoube.  He married Delvine Heinlein May 10, 1947 in Berger.  She passed away July 5, 1975.  A roofer, he worked for American roofing for 40 years before retiring in 1988.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon L. Wood of Alton; five sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Karen LaBoube of Alton, Tim and Jamie LaBoube of Decatur, Ind., Jim and Tresa LaBoube of Maryville, Tom and Mary LaBoube of Charlton, Mass., and John and Madelyn LaBoube of Duncanville, Tex.; six grandchildren, Juli LaBoube, Paul T. Wood, Matt Wood, Christopher LaBoube, Brett LaBoube and Adam LaBoube; numerous beloved great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Clarence Meyer of New Haven, Mo.; his beloved step family and his favorite niece, Marian Groner.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Apr. 8 at Paynic Home for Funerals in East Alton, and will continue Saturday, Apr. 9 at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, Mo. from 10 a.m. until noon.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father John Deken at St. Paul Catholic Church in Berger, Mo. At 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 9.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Berger.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Clare’s Chapel in Alton.
