John Gancheff

John Gancheff, 98, of Granite City, IL passed away at 2:35 a.m. Thurs. Nov. 5, 2026 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

He was born Jan. 16, 1928 in Madison, IL to the late Michael and Viola Gancheff.

He and the former Jimmie Jean Barker were married Oct. 13, 1957 in Corinth, MS.  She preceded him in death Oct. 14, 2018.

John was a U.S. Navy veteran.  He retired from Laclede Steel as a crane operator after 30 years of service.  He loved to hunt and fish and was a talented backyard mechanic.  Time spent with friends and family was dear to him.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Sandy Kielty, Dorothy Gancheff and Cathy (Bob) Gisi, 2 sons, John Steve Gancheff and Joe Gancheff and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Walker, 2 sons, George Barker and Mike Gancheff and a sister, Dorothy Hamilos.

Memorial visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time of memorial services at 7:00 p.m. Tues. Nov. 10, 2026 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory.
