John Goodwin

John Goodwin, 62, of Troy, IL, born on May 2, 1963, in St. Louis, MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in his home.

John was a lifelong resident of the St. Louis metropolitan area and married his beloved wife, Debbie, in 2013. He spent more than a dozen years as a IBEW Local 1 member working for Kaiser as a communications journeyman technician. John loved the outdoors and was most content and happy when surrounded by nature. He enjoyed travelling the backroads on his motorcycle with close family and friends. John was dedicated to his union and work, taking great pride in every project. He displayed exemplary work ethic and was often described as dependable by co-workers and friends alike. His loved ones would tell you that he was outspoken and told you how it was, but that he also had a soft side and deep faith in the Lord.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Irma Goodwin (nee Daulby); grandparents John and Martha Goodwin; and brother, Rob Goodwin.

Left to cherish John’s memory is his wife, Debbie Goodwin (nee Polizzi); his son, Tyler (Meghan) Goodwin; his step-son, Aaron Shipman; his step-daughter, Amber (Josh) Peterson; his brother, Don (Lynn) Goodwin; his sister-in-law, Laura Goodwin; his grandchildren, Noah Goodwin, Shay Goodwin, Camden Peterson, and Aubrey Peterson, as well as many dear friends, neighbors, coworkers, and extended relatives.
