John Piper Sr

John L. Piper, Sr., 69, passed away 10:04 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Highland on September 19, 1948, he was the son of Herbert and Corine (Klaus) Piper.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was employed in the Brass Division of the Olin Corporation before retiring.

He married Gloria Jean Sauls on February 12, 1972 in Cottage Hills.  She died May 30, 2011.

Surviving are a son, John L. Piper, Jr. of Bethalto; step-son, Ron Clinton of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Darlene Kincaid of Bethalto, Stephanie (Kyle) Glassmeyer of Cottage Hills, Karen Phillips of Alton; step daughter, Cyndi Moran of Mesa, AZ; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren;and a brother, George Piper of Hardy, NE.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.

Graveside service and burial will be conducted at 12 p.m. Friday in the Shain Cemetery in Fisk, MO.

Memorials may be made to the South Roxana American Legion Post.
