John Moody

John Lewis Moody II, 40, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born April 7, 1976 in Bloomington, IL the son of Ron and Sandra (Sronce) Moody of Bloomington, IL. John graduated from S.I.U.E. with a degree in social work. He was a counselor who loved reading and studying ways to help others. He was passionate about nature and the environment, loved public transportation; especially traveling by train. He was a lover of history, including local Illinois history. John also enjoyed reading, gardening, music, being a part of the radio air check community and hiking with his companion, Buddy. He loved his cats, Simon and Cuddles. On October 5, 2014 in Alton he married Graig Smith and he survives. Also surviving are one sister; Jennifer Moody of Chicago, his mother-in-law; Christine Miller of Rosewood Heights, and his father-in-law; Erik Smith of Wood River, one brother-in-law; Brent Smith (Jackie) of Godfrey. A Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to 5 A’s Animal Shelter, 4530 N. Alby Street, Alton, IL 62002. John will be deeply mourned and missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors. John’s care and concern for others will live on forever.
