John Milton Rasp, Jr., 91, formerly of Wood River, passed away 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Arbor Rose Memory Care Home in Charleston.
Born in St. Louis on September 15, 1926, he was the son of John M, Sr. and Blanche (Carnon) Rasp.
A World War II navy veteran, he had been an engineer for the Winchester Division of the Olin Corpoartion and was the owner/operator of Jack's Hallmark in Jerseyville and East Alton. He had been a member of the Westerner Club, Wood River Jaycees; United Presbyterian Church and a Board of Directors Member of Olin Credit Union.
He married Jean Lawvere who preceded him in death in 1979; then married Gisela Gott, who preceded in 2016.
Surviving are two sons, John M. Rasp, III of Deland, FL, Jim (Linda) Rasp of Caseyville; daughter, Nancy (Randy) Crone of Charleston; step-daughters, Beatrice (Victor) Rouse of St. Louis, Marina (Michael) Pool and Sylvia Gott all of Granite City, Brrenda Miller (Bruce Hampton) of Glen Carbon; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
His parents , wives and a sister, Dorothy Kenny preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Friday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
Private burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
