John Wesbrook

John Michael "Westy" Wesbrook, 63, of Bunker Hill, Illinois, passed away leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Born in Litchfield, Illinois, on January 27, 1963, John was a man who lived life to the fullest and brought an unmistakable energy wherever he went.

?For many years, John dedicated his talents as a skilled Machinist at Owens-Illinois, a career marked by hard work and dedication. But to those who knew him best, his greatest and proudest accomplishment was always his family and the deep relationships he built throughout his life. If you knew Westy, you knew his favorite word—a booming, signature "WOW!" that perfectly captured his enthusiastic approach to life.

?John shared 23 wonderful years with the love of his life, Mary Busch. Together, they built a beautiful world centered around family, fun, and unconditional support.

?He was a profoundly proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children: Elizabeth (Wesbrook) and her husband Jules Bartony of Staunton, IL; Heather (Wesbrook) and her husband Nelson DelValle of Ocala, Florida; and Dylan Sugg and his partner Paige Sparks of Godfrey.

?He was the adored "Grandpa" to his grandkids, who brought immense joy to his life: Kade and Joplin Penrod of Staunton, IL, Bianka DelValle of Staunton, IL, Beatriz and Bastian DelValle of Ocala, Florida, and Chrissy Bartony of Ironton, Missouri. He was also the cherished great-grandfather to Malia and Hank Albertson of Ironton, Missouri.

?John is also survived by his loving mother, Maxine Schuette of Staunton, IL; his brother, Robert Wesbrook and his wife Donna of Bunker Hill; his sister, Angie Callovini and her husband Phil of Holiday Shores; his sister, Sue Wesbrook of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; and his beloved niece and nephew, Madalyn and Austin Callovini of Holiday Shores.

?He was preceded in death by his father, Milburn Wesbrook.

?When he wasn’t spending time with his family, John was usually out chasing his next adventure. He loved nothing more than riding his Harley on the open road, hunting, and embarking on quests to track down the absolute biggest pork tenderloins around. He was also the ultimate sports fan, proudly and loudly cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

?An avid card player, John's true passion was poker. You could find him at a table just about every single night of the week, traveling to all different places to play. For John, it wasn't just about the game; he genuinely loved talking to people and looked forward to making new friends at every single table he sat at. Above all, John just loved having fun with his family and friends. His presence was huge, his heart was bigger, and his "WOW" will echo in the hearts of those who loved him forever.

Visitation will be held from 9 AM – 12 noon on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with burial at Spangle Cemetery in rural Staunton.
