Joseph G. "Joe" Haegele III, age 74 of New Douglas, IL, died Friday, January 2, 2026, at Saint John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

He was born on Sunday, April 15, 1951, in Saint Louis, Missouri, the son of Joseph and Virginia (nee Crano) Haegele.

On Friday, August 27, 1971, he married Lynn Marie Haegele nee Gruenenfelder who survives.

He was a member of Tennessee Walking Horse Association, Chemical Workers Union of East St. Louis, Leef Township, and former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Joe was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in Marine, Illinois. He attended St. Paul Catholic School and graduated from Triad High School in 1969. Joe worked on the family farm with his father, then in 1976, he started working for a chemical company. After retirement, he worked for New Douglas Township. Joe’s biggest hobby was showing Tennessee Walking Horses at fairs, where he won many awards and trophies. He was very dedicated to his children and grandchildren. He attended all the grandchildren’s sporting events. He loved his dog, Buddy, and cat, Elsah. Joe enjoyed fishing and was huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and never missed a game on TV.

  • Daughter - Michele L. Neese (Sig.Other-Ronald D. Davis, Jr), New Douglas, IL
  • Son - Nick R. Haegele, Staunton, IL
  • Grandchild - Hunter R. Hall, New Douglas, IL
  • Grandchild - Nick R. Haegele, Jr., Staunton, IL
  • Grandchild - Levi L. Price, New Douglas, IL
  • Great Grandchild - Preston G. Hall, New Douglas, IL
  • Joe was the oldest of 11 children

He was preceded in death by Three Predeceased Contacts:

  • Father - Joseph George Haegele, Jr. (died 10/4/2002)
  • Mother - Virginia L. Haegele, nee Crano (died 11/14/1996)
  • Son - Robert Joseph Haegele, Jr. (died 3/18/1997)

Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL.

A Private Graveside will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Livingston, IL., with Pastor John Mindrup, Visitation Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Livingston, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grandchildren's Education Fund (checks payable to Lynn Haegele).
