Katherine Elaine Huff, 81, died at 8:20 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2016 at her residence after a short battle with cancer.She was born in Decatur on June 20, 1935, and was the daughter of Louis & Elizabeth (Lukens) Wittig,Katherine grew up in the Chicago area, and married Leslie Eugene "Whitey" Huff on Oct. 3, 1959 in Alton.  The majority of their 42 years of marriage were spent in the Medora area, where Whitey was employed as a heavy equipment operator, and Katherine maintained the home and tried to bring a sense of calm with a family that would consist  of six children.  After Whitey's death on Nov. 6, 2001, Katherine moved to Jerseyville where she remained until the time of her death.She is survived by two sons & daughters in law, Curtis & Debbie Huff of Abbeville, Ms. and Sam & Cheryl Huff of Chesterfield; three daughters & a son in law, Clara & Mike Price of Greenfield, Jeanne Adams of Jerseyville, and Debbie Huff of Oxford, Ms.; 12 Grandchildren; 28 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; a sister & brother in law, Mary & Irvin Force of Tower Hill, Il.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Homer Jay Huff on Sept. 17, 2015; a daughter in law, Lynne Huff; three brothers, Sonny Smith, John Smith, Richard Wittig; and a sister, Imogene Takowski.Visitation will be from 3 p.m., Thursday until time of funeral services at 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating.She will be laid to rest in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Fidelity.Memorials may be given to the Illinois Valley Senior Citizens Meals Program.
