
Kathleen P. Russell, 82, of Spanish Lake, Missouri was called home to her Heavenly Father at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2021.
She was born January 1, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Jeffers) Mulderig.
She married Donald Martin Russell on October 19, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri and he passed away on July 11, 2011.
Kathleen was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed attending Mass and praying the Rosary daily. She was a longtime faithful member of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, later becoming a devoted member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church and was last a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, all in St. Louis. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her entire family and friends.
She is survived by a son, John Martin Russell of St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Nell and Dr. Steve Sweeney of Edmond, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Steven Connor, Sean Russell, Brendan Donald, and Molly Rose Sweeney; two sisters, Eileen Bielik and Jean McCormack; many special nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband of 42 years and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Mulderig, and three sisters, Elizabeth Mueller, Dorothy Kelly, and Mary Mulderig.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4556 Telegraph Road in Oakville, Missouri 63129 at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, with Father Paul Hamilton as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Masses are preferred and memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
