Kenneth Hines

Kenneth E. Hines, age 60, of Shiloh, Ill., born July 21, 1965 in Brazil, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 following a courageous battle against melanoma.

Ken grew up in O’Fallon, Ill., and graduated from O’Fallon Township High School in 1984. He married his high school sweetheart, Michelle Froman on October 1, 1988. He enlisted in the Indiana National Guard and after serving six years, was called to active duty to serve in Kuwait, in support of Desert Storm, earning the Kuwait Liberation Medal. Ken was a proud veteran and flew the flag at his home everyday. A car mechanic by trade, he was a 25-year employee at Distler’s Auto Repair in Shiloh.

Ken enjoyed working in his yard and was a handyman/Mr. Fix-it around the house. He had a great sense of humor, was a talented artist and enjoyed watching corny movies and listening to music, especially AC/DC. He loved the St. Louis Blues and drinking a cold beer whenever he could. He was a man of simple pleasures but at his core was a family man that adored his family and would do anything for a person/friend in need.

Ken was preceded in death by his father John O. Hines and his younger brother J.W. Hines.

Surviving are his wife, Michelle; daughter Hilary Hines of Schaumburg, Ill., mother Mary (Larry) Steward of Shiloh, Ill., sister Melissa (Donnie) Hawk of Elberfeld, Ind., sister-in-law Dana (Jeff Culli) Heflin of Freeburg, Ill.; mother-in-law Carole Link; father-in-law Monte (Aleta) Froman; and his beloved dog Roxie.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm, Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O’Fallon, Ill.

Family and friends will gather at 8:30 am, Monday, September 15, 2025 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, where a procession will depart at 9:30 am for a private Graveside Service with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Online condolences may be shared at www.wfh-ofallon.com. Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O’Fallon, is serving the Hines family.

Special thanks goes out to the Freeburg Care Center staff and the Hospice of Southern Illinois staff for their extreme care, kindness, and going above and beyond in taking care of Ken and his family during such a difficult time.
