
Larry Joseph Huston Lowry, 61, transitioned peacefully surrounded by his family at Christian
Hospital in St. Louis, MO on February 4, 2016.
Larry was born February 1, 1955 in Edwardsville, IL to the late Huston O. Lowry and Ruby M. (Brady) Lowry. He attended Edwardsville High School, and completed classes at Illinois Central College. He married Rosalind Y. Zanders Lowry December 3, 1977, and to that union was born two children. Larry accepted Christ in 1978 and was baptized at Peoria Friendship Baptist Church. While living in Peoria he was a member of Christian Family Center Church, where he actively served in the Youth Program Department.
Larry was formerly employed by S & K Chevrolet and University Ford car dealerships, and was last employed by Direct TV until his health failed.
Larry was a man of many talents; a “jack of all trades” and indeed a master of many of them. There were very few things he couldn’t fix or build. He avidly enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, and shooting pool.
His favorite pastime was taking pictures, and he was known in the Peoria community as the“Pictureman”.
In addition to his children, Lariya Yvette Lowry of Raleigh NC and Ryan Joseph Lowry of Peoria IL , he leaves to forever cherish his memory two grandsons; Donovan Joseph Lowry and Dexter Joseph Lowry; his mother Ruby Lowry of Peoria IL; four brothers, Houston Lowry Jr (Shirley) of Edwardsville, IL; John Smith (Rose) of Granite City, IL; Roger Lowry (Sharon) of O’Fallon, IL; and Russell Lowry (Jill) of Dallas, TX; two sisters Robin (Donald) Stapleton of Peoria, IL; and Retha Lowry of Florissant MO his loving and committed caregiver and a host of family and friends.
He is now eternally joined with his father who preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until Noon, with funeral services beginning at Noon on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Weber & Rodney Chapel, 304 N Main, Edwardsville. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Rev. Tony E. Pierce, Pastor of Heaven’s View Christian Fellowship, Peoria IL will officiate. Services have been entrusted to Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL
