Lawrence “Wimpe” Charles Wimpe, 88, of O’Fallon, IL, born May 24, 1937, in St. Louis, MO, died Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Revela at O’Fallon Senior Living.

Mr. Wimpe had worked for Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home as an EMT for many years. Later he worked as a custodian for District 118. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, a member of the Wednesday work group, sang in St. Mary’s and Cathedral’s church choirs, and was a volunteer at Camp Joy and Camp Vandeventer. Wimpe was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and dancing. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years and a United States Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elenora Seelhoefer, nee Wempe.

Surviving are his wife Charlotte A. Wimpe, nee Liske; two sons, James (Samantha) Wimpe of East Lyme, CT, and Kurt Wimpe of St. Louis, MO; and two grandchildren, Camille and Spencer Wimpe.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, 120 North Illinois Street, Belleville, IL, 62220.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, 120 North Illinois Street, Belleville, IL, 62220, with Msgr. William McGhee Officiating.

Private family burial with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
