Margie Louise Cameron, 91, peacefully entered her eternal home at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Bethalto Care Center, while in the company of family.
She was born in Marston, Missouri on July 27, 1921, the son of the late Eugene Cutler and Clara (Gilbert) Cutler.
On October 3, 1936, she married Julius "Bebo" Cameron in New Madrid, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1994. One son, Bobby Cameron (Pat) of Bethalto, preceded her in death in 1993. Four siblings also preceded Margie in death. One sister, Imogene Johnson of Troy, Mo. survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Cameron (Cathy) of East Alton and Gary Cameron (Linda) of Bethalto as well as five grandchildren: Michelle Myers (Paul) of Bethalto, Chris Cameron (Susan) of Wood River, Troy Cameron (Kristin) of Bethalto, Jon Cameron of Richmond Heights, and Brian Cameron (Amber) of Glen Carbon. Margie also took great joy in her eight great grandchildren.
A long-time resident of Cottage Hills, Margie was a quiet and humble servant of the Lord. Hers was a life filled with family, faith and love. Her generous, unassuming manner and sweet nature made her many friends while attending Ivy Heights Church of God in Wood River, working at Angel Cream Donut Shop and in her years living at Township Village, both in East Alton. She was an avid reader and a gifted quilter and seamstress. Margie enjoyed baking and made a cherry pie for the ages. Her modest demeanor hid a sly sense of humor and a girlish giggle. She was quick to laugh and was never more comfortable than when spending time with family. Her strength was tested in a head-on collision at age 76. She recovered and persevered, showing uncommon will and thriving beyond expectations. Margie spent her final months at Bethalto Care Center where she was given outstanding care by a special group of people who deserve her family's ultimate thanks and gratitude.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, March 27 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Services will follow there at 11 am on Thursday, March 28 with Pastors Terry McKinzie and Daryl Fansler officiating.
