Marilyn Snowden

Marilyn J. Snowden, nee Monahan, 89, of Belleville, IL, born Tuesday, March 3, 1936 in Suffern, NY, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 surrounded by family.

Marilyn earned a Bachelor’s degree from Goucher College in Baltimore and a Masters degree in Education from State University of New York @ Albany. She taught elementary school for four years near her hometown of Suffern, NY before moving to the Midwest. After raising her six children she returned to education as a substitute teacher and a certified teacher’s aide @ Emge Junior High in Belleville for many years and was known by students for her kindness and patience. She will be remembered lovingly by her family for her sense of humor, sharp wit and lifelong love of the New York Mets.

Memorials: Marilyn was a lifelong lover of animals, especially cats and dogs. Memorials may be made to ASPCA in her honor.

Celebration of Life: A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
