
Mary Inez Miller, age 85, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
She was born March 8, 1934, in Alton, the daughter of Edward George and Mabel Inez (Elliot) Swift. She married Billy Mitchell Miller on August 25, 1955 in Alton and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2010.
Mary had worked as a postal carrier for the East Alton Post Office for many years. She loved gardening and collecting unicorns. Mary attended Whitelaw Baptist Church in East Alton.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Mitch and Deborah Miller of Hudson, FL, Michael and Cindy Miller of Lake St. Louis, MO, and Mark and Gayla Miller of Moro, IL; a brother, Gary W. Swift Sr.; eight grandchildren, Adam Miller, Andrea Jandt, Hailey Meyer, Matthew Miller, Nicholas LeMaster, Jamie Deetz, Joe Harrison and Amy Harrison; six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Wesley, Bryce, Zander, Paislee, Hollis, June, and one on the way; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Bill; she is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Jessie Mae Dickinson.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private services will be held at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Burial will take place in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Senior Services Plus (SSP) of Alton.
