Mary May

Mary Ann May, nee Tecklenburg, 93, of Belleville, IL, born May 22, 1932, in Smithton, IL, died Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Ann was the sexton and caretaker for Green Mount Catholic Cemetery for over 25 years. She loved to dance and enjoyed going shopping.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Leslie Edward May, whom she married on June 23, 1956, and who died on August 30, 2003; a son, Thomas May; her parents, Otto and Mary, nee Rapphold, Tecklenburg; and her brother, Adolph (Phyllis) Tecklenburg.

Surviving are two daughters and a son, Leslie (Wayne) Sandheinrich, Liecha May, and Jason (Tracy) May; five grandchildren, Eric (Angela) Wester, Neil (Cayla) Wester and Brandon, Trevor, and Elizabeth May; and four great-grandchildren, Kai and Melia Wester, Adalynn and Austin Wester.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
