
Maurice Oliver Niehaus, age 92 of Saint Jacob, IL, died Friday, August 29, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born on Saturday, January 7, 1933, in Florissant, MO, the son of Clarence and Aldine (nee Wiese) Niehaus.
On Saturday, February 27, 1965, he married Theresa Ann Niehaus (nee Strauss) at Florissant, MO, who passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2006.
He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. He was also a member of VFW Post 5694, American Legion Post 439, the Highland Senior Center and the Belleville Senior Center.
Maurice was born in Florissant, Missouri. After he graduated from high school, he served in the US Army. After the military, he worked for a lumber company and then owned a small engine repair and saw sharpening business. Maurice had a vast collection of baseball caps and tools. He enjoyed gardening and lawn care. Maurice loved going to dances. His love of travel took him to many places, but Alaska and Hawaii were at the top of the list. In 2017, he was part of the Honor Flight that takes Veterans to Washington, DC, to visit memorials.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, IL.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Scott Busacker, pastor, Hope Lutheran Church, officiating.
Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
