Merle Bradshaw

Merle V. Bradshaw, 86, passed away at home with his family by his side on October 16, 2026 in Godfrey, IL.

Merle was born on July 21, 1940 in Alton, the son of Wayne and Mable (Littleton) Bradshaw.

Merle married Glenda L.  Wills on September 27,1961 in Godfrey, IL. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2024.

Merle loved working on cars and all things mechanical and had a unrefined character that everyone adored. He was a member of the former Bethany Baptist Church of Godfrey, IL.

Merle is survived by his sons, Steven (Jane) Bradshaw and Philip Bradshaw, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mary Tucker, as well as many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

In addition to his wife, Glenda; Merle was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne Bradshaw, three sisters, Eva Parkson, Loretta Newman, and Naomi Coleman; a grandchild; and his beloved boxers, Molly, Cimarron, and Buster.

Cremation rites were accorded.

Funeral procession will begin at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 39, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey is assisting the family.

Memorials can be made to 5 A's.

Merle was quick witted and always reminded people as they parted that "if you can't behave then at least be careful."
