Michael Carson

Michael R. Carson, II, 60, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Born March 19, 1965, in Alton, he was a son of Michael R. and Linda D. (Terry) Carson.

At age 16, he began his career as a pipefitter and worked for Local Plumbers and Pipefitters #553.

Michael Roy Carson II, was a man who loved deeply, laughed loudly, and gave generously. He passed leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor and unwavering devotion to his family.

Michael was a proud fan of the St. Louis Blues, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Illinois Fighting Illini. Whether it was hockey season, baseball season, or cheering on Illinois, he never missed a chance to support the teams he loved.

Michael was always ready to lend a hand to anyone to anyone in need. He found joy in fixing things, and being the person others can count on. If something was broken, you called Michael and he'd not only fix it but probably make you laugh while doing it.

Above all, his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. Spending time with them meant everything to him. They were his pride and joy, his happiness, and the light of his life.

Michael will be remembered as a loving father, devoted grandfather, loyal fan, helper to many, and a friend to all. His laughter, his generosity, and his love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Survivors include his children, Matthew (Rheanna) Carson of Wood River, Britni (Anthony) Guerra of East Alton, and Brett (Jaime) Carson of Edwardsville; 17 grandchildren, Lucas, Madison, Abigail, Cameron, Jaxson, Payton, Bryce, Ian, Owen, Lila, Aubrey, Phoenix, Rhemic, Beckham, Landen, Jace, and Knox; sister Terri Fincher of Roxana; and brother Greg (Emily) Eubanks of Edwardsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant siblings, Shawn and Karen Carson.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 2 at Paynic Home for Funerals.
